The class surveys economic schools of thought on major ideas about the economy and society. Theories of competition, effective demand, macroeconomic stability, class, rent seeking, collective action, among others, are traced from classical economic thought, institutional economics, Keynesian economics, and neoclassical political economics. Some concepts also focus on the intersection of the economy and the polity. The exact topics covered in this class may change depending on the instructor.
